You're Sweet

As I've mentioned before, I am SO grateful to God for the friendships I've made here in blogland.  So many wonderfully talented people have blessed me along the way; especially as I was beginning my blogging journey.  When I first started, I literally knew NOTHING about how to run a blog.  I just asked the Lord to guide me, and by His hand I have experienced something I could have never imagined.  One of the many sweet people who have blessed and inspired me is the very talented Viola Mahr.  She lives all the way over in Singapore, but through the wonder of the internet, she has blessed me several times by the clicks of her computer mouse.  Long before she did my blog banner and, more recently, the Word Art Wednesday blog banner, she gave me a page of darling digital images that I had seen her use many times.  They are the most adorable little cupcakes, cakes and pastry images that she was selling in her Etsy shop.  I used one of these sweet images to create this little card I'm sharing today.  I have a little box of crafting goodies and vintage notions going out in the mail to Viola this week to thank her for all her help.  So, this little card with the sentiment "You're Sweet" is for Viola to thank her for all the kind things she has done for me.

I'm entering this little card in the following challenges:

If you have a special someone who has blessed you, whether in your blogging, crafting, or just in general, I encourage you to take the time this week to thank that person for their kindness.  We often feel grateful but forget to tell people how much we appreciate them.  So, just make sure they know how grateful you are.  We never know how many opportunities we will have to tell someone thank you.  Don't pass up the opportunity.

I know I say this a lot, but I am truly grateful for each of you.  When you stop by and leave me comments, it encourages me and blesses me.  I try very hard to also visit all of your blogs to see your art and comment there.  Please know that I do remember you all in prayer, and I often thank God for the friends He has given me in blogland.  You are all so sweet.

Have a blessed day,

Recipe for Happiness

When I saw the challenge this week at City Crafter Challenge Blog I knew right away that I wanted to participate.  The Guest Designer shared a beautiful project that you won't want to miss.  Since I just LOVE to bake, I may even enter this challenge more than once.  I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to make, and I decided to share this very special recipe.  It is a recipe for happiness, and it really is cute and sound advice.  I'm not sure if I should keep it as a card, or make it into a recipe mini album.

Here is a link to the City Crafter Challenge Blog so that you can check it out and play along.  I know that Kirstie and her crew would love to have you join in the fun.   I'm entering the following challeges as well:

The challenge at Papertake Weekly Challenge Blog this week allows you to use any sketch from the past for your inspiration.  That's really a nice challenge becuse Dawny has SO MANY cute sketches that there is sure to be one (or more) that you will LOVE, and be able to design a card or project using it.   I know that Dawny and her crew would also love having you visit and play along.

I thank you for visiting today.  I hope you will take the time to read the "Recipe for Happiness".  It really is great advice.  We can all use an extra serving of patience, love, generosity, understanding, forgiveness and laughter.  I know I sure can.  And then spreading this recipe everywhere we go is the key to sharing that happiness.  It's just one of those recipes that is SO MUCH BETTER when it is shared.

Have a blessed day.

Mini Album

I had posted my art (which was a card) at Word Art Wednesday this morning, but I just wasn't happy with it.  I kept looking at it wondering what I could do to spruce it up a bit.  So, I tore it apart and started over.  I decided to make it into a three-page Mini Album.  I placed the free word art/scripture for this week on the cover and framed it using a Cheery Lynn Designs square die-cut frame.  This is similar to the art I made last week, except for that fact that this week I made it into a little book.  I tied the book with seam binding, and it will hold four photos inside.  I also added scripture, flowers, lace and other embellishments to the inside pages.

I'm entering this Mini Album in the following challenges:

http://cheerylynndesignschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/cheery-lynn-designs-challenge-43.html - Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog - Anything Goes.   I felt really badly that my entry last week had to be pulled.  So, I'm trying again.

I have been SO BLESSED to meet some of the sweetest people through blogging.  God has sent several new friends my way, and some of them are just such sweet blessings that lift my heart when I need it most.  I am so grateful for each of you who stop my blog and leave your sweet words of encouragement and praise.  I do thank God for you, and I hope you know how special you all are to me.  When God brings people into our lives, we need to remember to lift them up in prayer when they are going through difficult times.  I consider it a privilege to be able to pray for my friends in the blogging world.  I may never meet some of you here on this earth, but I know that God has allowed us to meet so that we can pray for each other now, and enjoy eternity together.  I praise God for you.

Back To School - Or The Kitchen

Well, for most people - this time of year means Back-to-School.  But for those of us who homeschool, it means Back-to-Kitchen (or dining room, or wherever your classroom is located).  Nonetheless, it is always a busy time of transition.  We only have one child that is still being homeschooled, and he is in the 8th Grade this year.  His Math is over my head (I'm sorry to say), and we hired a tutor to help with Math.  But other than that, we are on our way to another great year.  We dropped off our middle daughter at Bible College this weekend, and she is settled in for her second year of college life.  Again, I have to ask "where do the years go"?  They seem to disappear all too quickly.

This little card was created for this week's Challenge #9 on Speedy TV called Sketch With a Twist.  The "twist" this week is that there is no sketch.  This card was too crazy to sketch, so that's the whole idea.  I've challenged participants to create something that's too difficult to sketch.  I hope that makes sense.  I invite you all to sign up on Speedy TV to participate in their challenges.  You can win some awesome stamp sets each week.  Just click the link here to sign up and play along:  Speedy TV

I used Mark's Finest Papers Lesson Learned stamp set to create this little mini book.  I already mailed this to my sweet niece, Alexa.  I'm welcoming her back from her recent trip to Russia.  As I've shared before, Alexa speaks fluent Russian (as well as English).  She is starting Preschool this Fall.  Here is another picture of my sweet Alexa.  She is super excited to get home to her Papa (her Daddy, my baby brother) for one VERY funny reason.  Her Baba Natasha (Grandma Natalia) doesn't let her have ANY sweets.  But Papa lets her have them.  She said to him on the phone, "Papa, is my gum still on the counter"?  She is SO ready to chew that sweet pink bubble gum.  Oh, how I miss her.

I am entering this little Back-to-School mini book in the following challenges:

New School Shoes

I don't know about you, but when I think about my most favorite "Back-to-School" memories, my most fond memories are those of my Mother taking me to pick out my new school shoes.  Every year, before the new school year started, my Mother would take me to a shoe store called Clark's Shoes in Downtown Duluth, Minnesota.  This was always an exciting event.  We would walk in and head down to the basement where the Children's Shoe Section was located.  Most years, I got just one pair of shoes.  It wasn't until I got older that I would also get a pair of tennies.  But, my trip to Clark's was always to pick out my new "school shoes".  Looking back, they were pretty ugly (because they were corrective shoes).  I know there were years when my Mother sacrificed financially to provide those shoes for me, because they were very good quality shoes and I needed them for my feet.  But I was always excited about going, and at this point in my life, it's a wonderful childhood memory of time spent with my Mother.

When I saw this little postcard at an antique store in Minnesota, I snatched it up right away.  I knew that I wanted to create a "Back-to-School" card using it that would commemorate the special memories of school shoe shopping with my Mother.  With that said, here is the little card I made using the image.

Here are the challenges that I'm entering with this sweet little card that's so emotionally attached to these fond childhood memories:

I would love to hear about your favorite Back-to-School memory.  I'd also enjoy hearing if any of you have similar stories about shopping for new school shoes.  It's fun to reminisce and think about those days gone by.   I love my Mother so much, and I'm so grateful for these special memories and for the sacrifices she made on behalf of her children.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a blessed day,

Karen

My Lips Will Shout for Joy

This beautiful Psalm (My Lips Will Shout for Joy) is the free word art file this week at Word Art Wednesday and we would all just LOVE to have you stop by and play along with us.  You are welcome to save the file to your computer, and you are welcome to use it on your entry, but never required to do so.  You just need to share scripture or an uplifting/encouraging sentiment.  I hope you will join us.

I made a square card using a Cheery Lynn Designs die-cut, a Martha Stewart doily that is inked with Tim Holtz inks, some shabby Prima flowers, laces, seam binding, a Maya Road stick pin, Freckled Fawn washi tape, buttons, jute, a Prima leave, Bo Bunny patterned paper, machine stitching and a Bo Bunny rub-on.  Whew. . . that's a lot of embellishing.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Before I go, I wanted to mention a DELIGHTFUL new digital shop I've found on-line through a very lovely new friend and Sister in the Lord, Diane Noble.  She has a wonderful little shop called Daydream Designs Store.  Diane is not only a wonderful and inspiring crafter, but she is a solid Christian woman who walks the walk; not just talks the talk.  You will fall in LOVE with her darling images, tutorials, and will also find PLENTY of inspiration from her talented Design Team.  Please take a moment to check out her lovely shop here.   My Daydream Designs  She would LOVE to meet you.

Hope you're having a blessed week.  Thanks so much for stopping by today to say hello.

Celebrate Big

Well, our girls made it home just fine.  They had a great time, and had such great adventures to share with us when the got home.  I had texted them letting them know I needed to hear from them when they had cellular service.  My oldest daughter said, "Mom, don't worry. . .we're fine".  While I was super relieved to know that all was well, I simply explained to her that some day she will understand why a Mother just worries.  It's natural.  But, I must say that I was definitely praising God for hearing and answering prayers.  I couldn't get through life without Him.
This is a glassine bag that I decorated using the new Celebrate Big stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps for my Hostess Spot in the Sketch With a Twist Challenge at Speedy TV.  You can click the link for Speedy TV to play along in this, and several other fun challenges for the chance to win one of several darling stamp sets.  There's a challenge that's perfect for everyone there.

I used some BoBunny glitter paper, and tag,  and stamped the sentiments, cupcake and cherry from the Celebrate Big stamp set which is one of the new August release sets.  There are so many other stamps to this set, but I just used a few here.  I like making these little treat bags to tuck a gift card inside for gift-giving.

I'm entering this little project in the following challenges:

Casting All Your Cares

1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your cares upon Him; for He careth for you."  I know in my heart this means that I am not supposed to worry.  He wants me to give Him all my cares and let HIM worry for me.  This is SO difficult to actually do.  My beautiful daughters, 19 and 25, are at the lake today with friends (and of course, friends' parents) from church.  I know that I have to let them be independent, and learn to spread their wings and enjoy life.  But, they are still my precious babies.  They don't do a lot apart from the family.  So, when they are gone from us, I tend to worry.  It's a lake after all. . . and a BIG one at that.  So, I dropped them off and prayed that God would take this worry from me and simply protect them.  But reception isn't good at the lake, and I haven't heard from them.  I know, I know. . . .casting all my cares on Him.  It's so hard.  I just want to hear from my girls.  Why is putting our faith into practice SO difficult when it comes to my children?  I'm sure that many would think that I'm crazy to feel this way when they're actually adults.  But they're not "worldly" teenagers.  We have a very close family, and yes. . . they are sheltered.  We wouldn't want it any other way, and we praise God that they are so close to us.  I hope they're having LOTS of fun, but I really hope that phone rings soon, and that they are home safely this evening.

So, while I was home worrying today. . . . I made this little card for a friend at church.  I used mostly October Afternoon papers and embellishments.  I sewed the edges, used a Cherry Lynn Designs doily die-cut, some Baker's twine, buttons, and some other goodies.

http://craftymesschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/15th-challenge-words-no-image.html - Crafty Mess Challenge Blog - Challenge #15 - Words Only/No Image

These are the same four challenges I entered with the card I made yesterday.  I figure, I might as well stick with the same challenges and have fun with them all.  I haven't been doing a lot of image use lately anyway since I am waiting on my order of new Copics to come in the mail.  I enjoy making cards with just sentiments.  I did add a rubber charm, but not an image.  I also LOVE all four of these challenges blogs, and although I have never won anything on any of these blogs, I love to participate and keep trying.

I hope you are all having a great day, and perhaps crafting as well.  I will be SO much less worried when I hear from my girls.  I am so very grateful to God for allowing me to cast my cares or worries upon Him, and He has given me a great sense of peace today.  It's just a "Mom thing" to worry about their kids.  I know this will be the case even when they're all grown, married and moved out.  I wouldn't say I'm a big worrier, but it's more of just wanting to know they're safe.  I hope you all don't think I'm crazy.  I'm really not, I promise.

Have a blessed week.

Sweet Doily Die-Cut

About a year ago, I found a wonderful company called Cheery Lynn Designs.  I went to their website, and ordered some die cuts; including the beautiful large doily die-cut I've used on this card.  Then, yesterday. . . .I found out, quite by chance, that they also have a challenge blog.  I was SO excited.  I got out one of my Cheery Lynn Designs die-cuts and made this little card for their current challenge.

Here is a link to the Cheery Lynn Deisgns current challenge.  I hope you will check it out and play along, as well as checking out their amazing diecuts and other products.

I had a wonderful time at church this morning.  We have a friend visiting from out of town who went to church with us, which is always a blessing.  Then we went out to lunch, and now the boys are all at Bass Pro Shops while the girls chill out at home.  I'm obviously taking advantage of this time to craft and blog.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope that you will all have a blessed day, and a wonderfukl week.  I appreciate your visit and your comments.

God bless you all,

A Trip to Paris

Today my husband, Darren, and I celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary.  I am so grateful to God for giving me such a wonderful husband, friend, provider, and father to my beautiful children.  We've always dreamed of taking a trip to Paris together.  Whether we ever make it there or not, I don't really care.  As long as I have him in my life, I am truly blessed.  But, since today is our Anniversary and I was thinking about all the talks we've had about going to Paris, I made this little envelope using the JustRite Greetings From Paris stamp set to decorate a Maya Road Kraft envelope, and I tucked a love note inside telling him that I am happy just to be blessed to have him in my life.

My prayer for all my children is that they will have the kind of spouse, and the kind of marriage that God has given us.  It takes love, commitment, and hard work, but it is SO worth it.  Every year just keeps getting better, and that is what I want for each of our children.

I am entering this project in the following challenges:

Lunch Date

Well, I'm certainly excited about today.  I get to meet one of my dearest friends for lunch today to celebrate her Birthday.  This is the friend I mentioned the other day whose son, Jake, cut and broke his finger and had to go to the Emergency Department.  Jake ended up going to work that night because his finger was numb from Lidocaine.  We tried telling him that it would hurt when the numbness wore off, but he is a guy. . . need I say, stubborn?  Well, about two hours before his shift ended, he was SORE.  He couldn't take his pain medication until he got home.  Lesson learned (we hope).  Well, anyway. . . .I am meeting Kim for lunch today at a yummy restaurant called BJ's.

This card was made as my weekly project for my Hostess position with Mark's Finest Papers - Sketch With a Twist Challenge on Speedy TV.  I used their "I'm In Stitches" stamp set - one I've been using quite a bit lately.  I just felt like making something really bright and cheery.

Signing up for Speedy TV is absolutely FREE.  It gives you access to many tutorials, their gallery, blog hops (one going on right now), and allows you to enter SEVERAL different challenges.  Mine is called Sketch With a Twist, and I would LOVE to have you all play along.  One lucky winner receives a free stamp set each week, and participation has been low, so please stop by to sign up and play along.  You could be that lucky winner.

Of course, I can't resist entering my card in some challenges, so here they are:

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope you will take the time to visit these fun challenges I've mentioned and play along.  The more, the merrier.  I appreciate your comments and look forward to stopping by to say hello to all of you as well.  Have a blessed day.

Memories Are Stitched With Love

This is a simple little card that I made this afternoon using some Jillibean patterned papers, one Cosmo Cricket paper, some PTI die cuts, and a few other miscellaneous goodies including an old bottle cap.

I wanted to enter some specific challenges, so I worked in all the right elements and came up with this project.  It will go into my box of cards for the Christmas Craft Boutique at my church which is one of my most favorite projects of the whole year.

http://www.simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/simon-says-lets-play-bingo.html - Simon Says Challenge Blog - Let's Play Bingo.  My Bingo this time is Die Cuts (from Papertrey Ink on the flower cut out of felt), Glitter (on the bottons and the sentiment), and the Free Square.

http://www.pileitonchallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/pio-33-bingo.html - Pile It On Challenges #33 - Bingo.  My Bingo here is FABRIC (felt on the flowers), TAG (two of them) and SEWING (zig zag on the white ruled paper).

http://blog.ribboncarousel.com/2012/08/rcc65-one-stitch-at-time-with-stephanie.html - THe Ribbon Caroulsel - One Stitch at a Time.  Most folks know that I stitch on almost all my cards.  I just love it.

http://thekraftjournal.blogspot.com/2012/08/make-it-monday-with-kraft-outlet-tag-it.html - The Kraft Journal - Make it Monday - Tag It.  My tag is toward the bottom right of the card.  I just LOVE using Kraft Journal products, and playing along in their awesome challenges.  For this particular project, I used their Natural Twill Tape.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my card.  By the way, that digital camera just walked out the door.  So, if anyone has suggestions on a good camera for $300 or less, I would really appreciate the input.

Have a blessed day.

Karen

Thanks a Million

We have a sweet lady that my husband works with who has been helping us out with some travel arrangement, and we wanted to do something nice for her to thank her.  So, I made this little card and also bought her a Starbucks gift card. Sometimes just saying, "thank you" isn't enough.  There are times when you really feel the need to do something extra, so this is for her and we are truly grateful for the kind people God has placed in our lives who bless us in different ways.  We want to show our gratitude.  I hope she enjoys this little gift.

I'm entering this card in a few different challenges.  Maybe this will be a lucky week for me.

http://www.pileitonchallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/pio-33-bingo.html - Pile It On Challenges - Bingo.  My Bingo is across the bottom - I have GLITTER on the bottom scallop, PEARLS on the banners, and I SEWED the outer edges. I hope you like it.

http://www.marksfinestpapers.blogspot.com/ - Mark's Finest Papers - Show Us DOTS - I used a green and white polka dot patterned paper

The camera I've been borrowing from a friend is being returned this afternoon, so I'm not quite sure how I will be taking photos for a while.  Looks like I may be purchasing a new digital camera this week. Yet another thing to praise God for. . . .my husband's job.

Happy Monday,

Karen

Always Grateful

Life is full of unexpected situations.  But it sure is good to know that God is always there to get us through those unexpected and difficult hurdles we face in life.  Yesterday, our son was at his friend's house after church just hanging out and playing when we got a call that their oldest son had an accident at the gym and had to be rushed to the Emergency Department.  I headed over to their house to sit with the younger kids.  My girlfriend took Jake, their oldest, to get his finger looked at.  It was broken, the nail had to be drilled to relieve pressure, and it took several stitches to close the flap of skin that was ripped up.  Gross!  The kids and I immediately started praying for Jake.  What a blessing to know that God was taking care of everything, and Jake is going to be just fine.  I'm so grateful for friends, for the power of prayer, and for a God who is ALWAYS there when we need Him.

This is another card I made with my BFF Patti Lyn using the Pretty Party line from Crate Paper.  I always need Birthday cards, so I know this will come in handy.  I just love the strawberries.  The butterfly is from the chipboard set with this Crate Paper line.

I'm going to be crafting today, so I will no doubt be back with another post before the day's end.  Thanks for stopping by to say hello.  I hope you're have a fun and crafty day.  And because God is always SO GOOD TO US. . . . we should always remember to be grateful.  1 Thess. 5:18

Sew. . . . .What's New?

As I sat at my craft table this morning, I knew that I wanted to make something that would allow me to combine several current challenges together in one project.  I came up with this little card using my "Sew. . . . .What's New" stamp.  This stamp has become a favorite of mine, and I've been using it quite a bit lately.  It's from Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps -a Heinrich Co. "I'm In Stitches" stamp set.  I also used the "Material Girl" stamp set from Crafty Secrets.  I thought they really went well together.

The patterned papers are from Basic Grey's Lemonade line.  The little girl and sentiment backing are both snippets from a vintage dress pattern wrapper.  Of course, I had to add some of my hand-made scrunched seam binding, jute, buttons, and stick pins.  Oh, and let's not forget the butterfly in the upper right corner.

http://thekraftjournal.blogspot.com/2012/08/make-it-monday-with-kraft-outlet-needle.html - The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog - "Needle and Thread" - I used my Kraft cardstock, which I love.

http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/simple-salutations-challenge-6-08-08-12 - Mark's Finest Papers on Speedy TV - Simple Salutations Challenge - Use a Butterfly.  Do you see him up there in the upper right-hand corner?  I also used a Mark's Finest Papers stamp for the sentiment.

http://www.simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/simon-says-lets-play-bingo.html - Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Let's Play Bingo.  My Bingo is Ribbon (seam binding bows), Die Cut (butterfly and banner), and Buttons (2).

http://heartwarmingvintage.blogspot.com/2012/08/august-linky-party-3-new-stamp-sets-and.html - Crafty Secrets August Linky Party #3 - I used my Material Girl stamp set for this card.

http://foreverfriendschallengeblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/fortnightly-challenge-no42.html - Forever Friends Challenge Blog - Fortnightly Challenge #42 - Something New (Where's my animal?  It's the small butterfly in the upper right-hand corner).

For some reason, I am very drawn to sewing stamp sets and own a few different sets.  From this, one might guess that I'm quite the seamstress.  However, sadly, I am not.  I know how to sew and I sew on my scrapbooking pages and cards all the time.  But my actual sewing skills are not so great.  I can do simple mending, and possibly make a pillow or something simple.  I should branch out a bit and push myself to become a better seamstress.

I greatly appreciate your visit today, and hope that you're enjoying this beautiful weekend.  And, since my sentiment and blog post title are, "Sew. . . . .What's New", I'd love to hear what you're doing this weekend.  I hope it's restful and wonderful.

Blessings to you all, my crafty friends.

Thank Goodness It's Friday

TGIF Everyone.  For those of you who work outside the home, I know how wonderful Fridays are.  I once heard a cute little saying. . . . "Let Fridays Be Fruitful and Multiply".  I always liked that sentiment.  Even for those who don't work outside the home, there's just something relaxing and wonderful about Fridays.  Don't you think?  What makes it even better for me is that (other than church Sunday), I don't have any commitments this weekend.  I can just chill out with my family.

I saw this "quilting" by paper piecing technique on a blog this week and thought I'd give it a try.  I added a mini crocheted doily in the center, and then die cut a butterfly that I painted and glittered, then added some tiny pearl accents to the center of the butterfly's body.

Here are the challenges I'm entering with this card:
http://www.simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/simon-says-lets-play-bingo.html - Simon Says Stamp - Let's Play Bingo - My Bingo Includes Glitter (on the butterfly), Diecut (butterfly), and the Free Square.

http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/simple-salutations-challenge-6-08-08-12 - Mark's Finest Papers - Simple Salutations Challenge #6 - Use a Butterfly - I also used a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers for the "Simple Salutation".  This Happy Birthday stamp is from their Pansy Riot stamp set.

http://foreverfriendschallengeblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/fortnightly-challenge-no42.html - Forever Friends Challenge Blog - Fortnightly Challenge #42 - Something New (my patterned papers) - I had to redeem myself.  You must include an animal for the challenges on Forever Friends' Challenge Blog.  So, here is my butterfly.  I really want to qualify for this awesome challenge as I'm a bit of a wool felt addict.

http://www.clearlyistamp.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Clearly%20Inspired%20Challenge - Clearly I Stamp - Things With Wings

Whatever your plans are for the weekend, I hope you enjoy yourself. I'd love to hear what your plans are for the weekend. Hopefully, they include some crafting. I know I will be doing some creating, and LOTS of chillin' out. That's what weekends are for, right?

Thanks for visiting my blog.  I really appreciate your comments, and I hope you know that I really do try to get by to visit everyone else's blogs as well.  I get so much inspiration from visiting all of you and seeing your gorgeous creations.  If you get the chance, please stop by Word Art Wednesday and play along with us.  We would LOVE to have you join us.

Have a great weekend.
Blessings to you all,

Karen

Babies, Butterflies and Blessings

Today is just one of those days when I woke up counting my blessings.  I had a really bad "Charlie Horse" or cramp in my right leg in the wee hours of the morning.  It woke me from my sleep, and it hurt pretty bad.  I called out to God for relief, and. . . wouldn't you just know it?  GOD IS SO GOOD.  It went away, and I was able to go back to sleep for a bit.  Sometimes that's what it takes to get our attention, and put us in the right frame of mind; becoming more grateful for all the blessings in our lives.  God has blessed me, and give Him ALL THE GLORY.

I've been busy crafting this week, and wanted to make this post before I start what's turning out to be a very busy day.  I have a nail appointment, a doctor's appointment, an errand with my daughter, and a Birthday Party to attend this evening.  Lots to get done today.  But first, I wanted to share a couple of quick cards.

First, this little card I made is TOTALLY inspired by the sweet and talented Melissa Phillips of Lily Bean Paperie who is part of the Design Team at Simple Stories (among her many other roles).  She gets ALL the credit on the creative end for this one.  I just love this sweet baby line from Simple Stories.

I'm entering this card in the following challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ and also at Simon Says Stamp - both of which you can find here:

http://www.stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/2012/08/challenge-151-i-peter-22-3.html - Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge Blog - Challenge #151 - Babies/Pastels

http://www.simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/08/simon-says-lets-play-bingo.html - Simon Says Stamp - Let's Play Bingo - My Bingo is Buttons, Lace and Blooms.  The "blooms" or flowers are very soft pastel and don't show up real well, but they are there on the tree with the pearl accents in the middle of each one.

Next is a little card I made while I was at my best friend's house in Minnesota last month.  Patti Lyn and I made oodles of cards.  This is just one of them, and I used the adorable Pretty Party line from Crate Paper.  I know it's hard to tell, but one of my butterflies is chipboard, and the other one is made from layers of an old dress pattern.

I will be using this one today for the Birthday Party we're attending later.  The Birthday Girl LOVES flowers and butterflies, so this one is for Olivia.

Sorry this is such a short little post, but as I said. . . . .I have SO much to do today.  I hope to make another post tonight or in the morning.  So much to do, so little time.  I encourage you all to take time today to thank God for all the blessings in your life.  He is just SO WONDERFUL.

My Cup Runneth Over,

Karen

You're a Doll

A few weeks ago, I made a post called "It's Your Day, Doll" where I showed the cover of a mini album I'm making for my sweet little niece, Alexa.  Today, I'm sharing the second page of this book.  I combined different techniques and products to align with some challenges I wanted to enter.  The pages opposite these pages will be photo mats for pictures from Alexa's dance recitals.  Once I've finished this mini album and have it bound together, I will share another photo.

http://ilovepromarkers.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/challenge-129-vintage.html - I Love Promarkers - Vintage Challenge.  I used my Promarkers on the face (flesh tones) and on the dress (pinks).  I also combined a watercoloring with ink pads technique for the hair and cheeks, but did use my Promarkers where I could.

Here is a picture of my sweet and adorable niece, Alexa.  I think she's the cutest thing ever.  She is bi-lingual; speaking English and Russian (fluently, mind you).  She is such a precious girl.  They live on Park Point which is property ON Lake Superior, so you will usually find her on the beach during the summer months.

Please take time to visit Word Art Wednesday and play along along with us in this week's challenge.  We would LOVE to have you join us, and we have TWO prizes up for grabs again this week.

Blessings,

Karen

Our Sweet Baby Girl

What could be more precious than a newborn baby?  Oh, how I miss those days.  I love the way they smell, the way they coo and cry, and how completely dependent they are on you to supply their every need.  Newborn is my most favorite stage, and it passes by oh so quickly.  Sometimes I wish I could wave my magic wand and transport to a day in the lives of each of my children, and hold them again as newborns.  I guess at this point, I need to focus on the Grandchildren I will have someday.

While I was in Minnesota crafting with my BFF, Patti Lyn, we made these sweet mini albums using Crate Paper's new Little Bo Peep line.  I just love this sweet new collection of patterned papers, chipboard and goodies.  We had to choose between the girl line and the boy line, and we were drawn to this wonderful girl line.  Here is the finished product.  I can't wait to give it to someone and see how it looks with the photos added to it.

Front Cover (I plan to add the baby's name to the bottom right of this page):

Front Side of Tag Insert/Page 3:

Back Side of Tag Insert/Page 4:

Front of Back Cover/Page 5 (Pocket for Extra Photos):

I didn't photograph the outside of the back cover.  I bound this mini album using my Zutter Bind-it-All and tied on some ribbons/laces.  LOTS of stuff going on here.  If you have any questions, just let me know.

I wanted to share this project in the AWESOME new challenge this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ because I love their challenge blog.  They are the "Sister Site" to Word Art Wednesday so I love to play along there as much as possible. They're offering a wonderful prize this week from Denami Designs, so I'm crossing my fingers.  I always trust that God is in control of ALL THINGS.

For those of you who are just beginning your journey as mothers, the best advice I can give you is to cherish every moment while they are newborns.  This time passes by much too quickly, and is such a precious gift from God.  And for those of you who are either Grandparents or approaching that chapter in your lives, you know exactly what I mean.  Oh. . . .where IS that magic wand?

Before I sign off today, I want to mention that my on-line friend, Barbara Dersken, has some lovely freebies and other items for sale on her blog.  You can check it out here:  Barbara's Blog

Thanks for visiting me today.  Have a wonderful day, my crafty friends.

Blessing to you all,

Sip, Talk and Enjoy

Anyone who knows me is fully aware of my coffee addiction. My sweet husband has gotten into the habit of bringing me my iced coffee every morning on his way home from work, and we sit, talk and enjoy each other early every morning. The good part for him is that by bringing me my coffee, it ensures that I will always wake up early and so, it works out great because we get to spend that special time together every morning. . . . which I just love. I also have some friends who have a MAJOR coffee addiction, and this card that I made will be mailed to one of those friends. Namely, Barbie, a friend I've had since the 7th Grade. She lives for her Kuerig coffee maker, and I think she'd be seriously "ill" if anything happened to it. So, Barbie. . . . this is for YOU.

I made this card using patterned papers from October Afternoon's Farmhouse collection, stamps from the darling Relax a Bit Stamp Set by Mark's Finest Papers -a Heinrich Co., some Recollections flowers, and a bit of Baker's Twine from the Twinery.

This card is my Hostess project for this week's challenge on Speedy TV's Sketch With a Twist Challenge which is already in its 6th week. I have been on vacation so much of the summer that I haven't been able to make blog posts regularly, but I wanted to get back in the swing of things and let you all know again about this SUPER FUN CHALLENGE. I really hope that you will all stop by Speedy TV and sign up to play along in their various challenges. It's 100% free to join, and there are MANY ways to win their adorable stamp sets. Of course, I'd be particularly happy if you would consider playing along in my challenge, Sketch With a Twist, but they're all super fun. Please stop on by and check it out. We'd sure LOVE to have you join us.

I'm also going to enter this card in a few challenges that I had in mind.

http://paperplaychallenges.blogspot.com/2012/08/12-week-31-layer-it-up.html - Paper Play Challenges - Week #31 - Layer It Up - There are SO MANY LAYERS on this card. It starts with a Bazzill base, then it has four patterned papers layered on top of that, plus the stamps, flowers and baker's twine. Now, THAT'S SOME LAYERING for sure. I would SO LOVE to win this challenge.

Getting Back to "Normal"

Well, I don't know just how "normal" I am. . . . . LOL, but I am finally back from both of my out-of-state vacations, and ready to get back into my regular routine.  I have missed crafting, making my blog posts, entering challenges, and visiting other blogs.  It's very difficult to do it from remote locations and different computers.  It feels so good to be back home and on my own computer again.

I had a wedding to attend today, but as soon as I got home this afternoon, I wanted to get busy making cards.  I'm really hoping that everything settles down for me, and that I can get back into the swing of things.

I made this little Summer card using the Pretty Party line by Crate Paper, some hand-cut, machine-stitched felt leaves, a PTI button, and a Pebbles in My Pocket rub-on.

I'm entering this Summer card in the following challenge at Victorine Originals Stamps:
http://www.vostamps.blogspot.com/2012/07/victorine-originals-challenge-39.html - Victorine Originals Challenge #39 - Summertime
I'm also entering the SUPER FUN challenge at Paper Play Challenges.  Their current challenge calls for lots of layers, which BOTH of these cards have.  The top/Summer card has three patterned papers layered with chipboard and felt, and the bottom/Christmas card has three layers of patterned papers as well as ribbons, chipboard and more layered up. Here is a link to their challenge:
http://paperplaychallenges.blogspot.com/2012/08/12-week-31-layer-it-up.html - Paper Play Challenges - Layer It Up (See Above Description for Layering Information)

http://theribbonreelchallenge.blogspot.com/2012/07/challenge-33-button-it.html - The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog - Challenge #33 - Button It - Both of my cards have buttons.  I don't think I'm capable of making a card without a button. . . . LOL

I also made this Christmas card, which was inspired by the very sweet and talented Ingrid Danvers using an older My Mind's Eye Christmas line.  I also used a Just Rite stamp from their lovely Nature's Nested Sentiments stamp set for the "Winter Wonder" sentiment.

I'm entering this Christmas card in the current challenge over at Just Rite Stamps Blog which you can check out by clicking on the following link:

http://justritestampers.typepad.com/justrite-inspiration/2012/07/justrite-friday-challenge-078-christmas-in-july.html - Just Rite Stamper - Friday Challenge #78 - Christmas in July - I used a Just Rite stamp for the sentiment.  Their stamps are just WONDERFUL.

Thanks for visting me today.  As I said, I will be busy crafting this weekend and I hope to start making some posts by Monday if all goes as planned.  If you leave a comment, I will be sure to stop by and visit your blog.  And if you become a new follower here on my blog, I am always more than happy to  head over to your blog and also follow you in return.   I appreciate your visits.

Have a great weekend.
Blessings,

Karen
