Fun and Prizes at Word Art Wednesday

It's hard to believe that it's already Wednesday.  Where do the days go?  It seems as though you barely take a moment to breathe, and another week has passed.  I sure am thankful to have the time to be creative each week, and don't know what I'd do if I couldn't find time to be crafty.  I made two cards as I was preparing for this week's challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  The first ard I made was the scripture card using this week's free scripture file.  The second card was very similar, but was created to fit into some challenges I wanted to enter.
And here is the second card.  They were both made with some patterned papers and embellishments that I picked up super cheap on a clearance sale at JoAnne's.

Here are the challenges I'm entering:

Simon Says Stamp & Show Challenge Blog - The Stamp You Love But Don't Use.  We all have those, don't we?  Mine is this Happy Anniversary stamp.  I don't know why I don't use it more because I always end up needing anniversary cards.  For lots of great new stamps, check out Simon Says Stamp.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Anything Goes

Great Impressions Stamps Challenges - February Challenge - Have a Heart.  I included a small yellow heart right by the Eiffel Tower on my second card.  I would LOVE to work with Great Impressions' stamps!

The Craft's Meow Challenge Blog - February Sketch Challenge.  Both of these cards were created based on this month's darling inspirational sketch.

Twist of Faith Challenge Blog - Challenge #26 - Stitching/Real or Faux -I almost always machine stitch my cards, and these two cards are no exception.

I really hope that you will stop by this week to share your creations with us at Word Art Wednesday where our challenges are always Anything Goes, and this week we have ELEVEN (11) prizes up for grabs including a $15 gift certificate to The Kraft Outlet!!  We hope you will join us!

God's blessings to you all,
Karen

Getting "Sketchy" at The Kraft Journal

This week's fun new challenge at The Kraft Journal is to choose and create a card or project using any sketch.  I had no idea where to start, so I literally googled the words "card sketches", saw oodles of different sketches, closed my eyes, pointed to one, and this is the sketch I chose.
So, with this sketch as my starting point, this is the card I'd like to share, and yes...I know it's rather "busy".  LOL
I hope that you will pick out a sketch, and then stop by The Kraft Journal to share your cards and projects with us.  Some of the Kraft Outlet's products I used on this card include a base of Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock, some various colors of Baker's Twine, two Tim Holtz Memo Pins, and some Natural Hemp Cord.  There are so many awesome products available at The Kraft Outlet and I invite you to do a little shopping, and then head over to The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog to play along in this week's fun sketch challenge.

Simon Says Stamp Challenges - This week, Simon Says "Use An Arrow".  When you touch the Tim Holtz Memo Pin, this arrow points right up at "YOU".

Life Paper Scrapbook - Colour Challenge #1 - Check out these lovely colors!

Thanks for stopping by to visit today.  I look forward to seeing which sketch you will decide to use, and what you will share with us this week at The Kraft Journal.  You're also welcome to share your creations in our Anything Goes challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday.  We would LOVE to have you join us at both!

Blessings to you,
Karen

The Kraft Journal

For this week's fun challenge at The Kraft Journal, the theme is White on Kraft.  You can pick up some of the best quality, and wonderfully-priced I might add, kraft paper for your projects at The Kraft Outlet along with all sorts of embellishments and supplies.  We hope that you will check out the challenge, the rest of the Design Team's projects, and the awesome products in The Kraft Outlet's shop.  We enjoy having you share with us in the challenges.

This week, I was asked to do the tutorial on the Kraft Journal Blog so I shared a quick and easy recipe for making flower fluff.  This is similar to another name-brand product that I can't mention by name, but if you click here and go to the Kraft Journal Blog, you will see my full tutorial on how to make this alternate and similar product for use on your cards and projects.  You basically just rub styrofoam balls together to make your powder.
Then, add a little color by adding a few drops of food coloring:
And this is the card I made to showcase the use of the Flower Fluff Stuff I made:
There are many amazing and helpful tutorials shared on The Kraft Journal's Blog and I encourage you to take advantage of the helpful hints shared there. I know that the tutorial showing us how to make a light box for photographing your cards was VERY helpful to me. Today is a great day to check out the wonderful challenges, Design Team inspiration, tutorials, and even the amazing shopping experience you can find at The Kraft Journal Blog and The Kraft Outlet Store.

This is a little tag I made to enter in some challenges.  My tag is from Freckled Fawn, the chipboard arrow is by Basic Grey, and the bow is made from some hand-dyed scrunched seam binding.
I'm entering the following challenges:

Top Tip Tuesdsay Challenge Blog - Challenge:  "Tag, You're It!" - My tag is from Freckled Fawn and my Top Tip is the tutorial above.  I used the Flower Fluff from my tutorial on my tag as well.  Mixing colors is so pretty!  Hope you will try this super inexpensive alternative.

Simon Says Stamp Challenges - Simon Says... "Use An Arrow"

My Craft Spot by Kimberly - Challenge #87 - Add a Flower.  Since I was making my own "Flower Fuff", and I added it to the basket to create "flowers", I thought I would share it in this super fun challenge.  I just LOVE My Craft Spot!!

Have a blessed day!

It Was Almost Like A Song

The challenge this week at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog is to create a card or project that is Inspired By the Lyrics To a Song.  I was totally planning on using this beautiful butterfly image to recreate the song "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle.  But, since I couldn't quite figure out how write out Butterfly Kisses in the small space I  had left myslef, I switched it to something that would fit, and that was "Endless Love".  My Mother-in-Law loves that song, and this little gift is especially for her, so....it all worked out just fine.
My Mother-in-Law has also fallen in love with the IPhone game, Draw Something.  So, I bought her this stylus for her IPhone so that she can use it to draw her pictures.  For those of you who play Draw Something, and would like a good stylus, DON'T go to WalMart or Target.  They cost about $13 each there.  I found a great deal on EBay for $3.90 I got an assortment of 10 styluses - one in each color of the rainbow.  They work great, had free shipping, and you will LOVE them.  They arrived in about three days.
I used some of my brand new washi tape from Freckled Fawn on this little project that I won this last week at Pile It On Challenge Blog.  This little bookmark was a fancy way of presenting her stylus to her, and I simply attached it to the paper and added some ribbon and flowers to make it look special.  She got the gold one out of my little "rainbow" of styluses.  They have a soft drawing pad on the end - and work perfectly on the IPhones for many things - not just Draw Something.  FUN!

No Matter Which Challenges - Challenge #6 - Ribbons & Bows - How fun!  I've used digital butterfly images from Eureka Stamps, and ribbons and bows made of seam binding.

Cutie Pie Challenge Blog - Challenge #38 - Pretty Pastels

All Sorts Challenge Blog - Challenge #194 - Things With Wings

Life Paper Scrapbook Colour Challenge #1 - Check out the gorgeous color combination - I thought this patterned paper matched just perfectly!

Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge Blog - Challenge #66 - Spring Colors and Ribbon - I love these sweet Spring colors I've used, and all the yummy seam binding ribbon.  I hope you all enjoy it as well.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you will join in the fun Inspired By Lyrics To a Song Challenge at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog and also the Anything Goes Challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday.

Blessings to you all,
Karen

A Little Tag - Be Mine

Well, my daughter asked me if I could whip up a quick tag/bookmark for a Valentine's Day gift she was giving yesterday, and so.....of course I said, "YES"!  It was quick and easy, and I was able to combine a few different challenges for another entry.  I used a simple tag and washi tapes from the wonderful Freckled Fawn, and then added a Melissa Frances Valentine's (Be Mine) rub-on.  I tied it off with a bow made from crinkled seam binding, a resin flower from Mariana Grigsby's Etsy Shop, some jute from Papertrey Ink, and then I inked the tag with Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge ink.  That's about it.
Here are the fabulous challenge blogs where I'm sharing this little tag, and a little bit about each one:

Catered Crop Challenges - Polka Dot Recipe Challenge.  I've commented on each sweet little polka dot project entered in this lovely blog's challenge, and have seen some amazing art.  This challenge is sponsored by the AWESOME Paper Sweeties who just happens to be having a February Stamp Release Party on Facebook.  Check it out for yet another chance to win!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog - Challenge #197 - Valentine's Challenge sponsored by the WONDERFUL Freckled Fawn whose delightful products I used to make this tag.  See details above.

The Craft's Meow Challenge Blog - Challenge #13 - February Sketch Challenge.  I've used this darling inspiration sketch to enter several little projects, in the hopes of winning some of The Craft's Meow's DELIGHTFULLY wonderful stamps.

Great Impressions Rubber Stamps - February Challenge - Have a Heart.  I've applied for the GDT spot with this awesome company, and am crossing my fingers to be able to work with their amazing rubber stamps!

Oh, one little question before I run off.  Does anyone know of any cool apps for the IPhone for us "crafty" girls?  I recently got my IPhone and don't know what to do with it - other than text and make phone calls.  I could use any good app suggestions you might have.

Thanks for stopping by to say hello.  Have a very blessed weekend!

What I Love About You

Exciting news!  I am so super happy to announce that I am the newest Design Team Member at V's Sweet Ideas and I can hardly wait until you all see the darling products available in this sweet shoppe.  I first fell in love with Vanessa's sweet store V's Sweet Ideas when I happened upon it in search of the most darling little Chic journaling cards.  Well, I found them here at V's Sweet Ideas and they are called Everday Life Chic Journaling Cards.  My favorite one is the Menu card, but I also love this one (from the same set) that says, "What I Love About You....."  I used this to make a Valentine's Day card for my sweet hubby, Darren.  I can't wait to give it to him!  This is my debut DT Card for this month's "Love Theme" challenge at V's Sweet Ideas Challenge Blog.  I hope you will play along each month.  This month, the sponsor is the very delightful Freckled Fawn where one lucky person will win a $20 gift certificate.  Now, that's worth playing for!

Anything But a Card

My Design Team assignment for this week's challenge at The Kraft Journal was to create "Anything But A Card".  This made me a little bit nervous because you who know me well are aware that I am a bit of a "card girl".  So, I got to thinking about what I could make that would be cute, but really creative.  This is what I came up with:
I made this little Valentine's gift for my daughter, Alicia (who we call Lily).  She's away at Bible College, and this was included in a care package we sent out at church Friday night along with a Starbucks Gift Card. I created this by using the packaging from some Tim Holtz Ruler Ribbon.  I emptied out the ribbon and traced the cardboard backing onto a piece of October Afternoon patterned paper, and used that as my new backing. You can see a snippet of this darling Tim Holtz Ruler Ribbon on the container in the upper right-hand corner.  The candy is exactly one container's worth of Wild Cherry Tic Tacs, and they fit in this packaging just perfectly.  I added an October Afternoon sticker (5 cents), and then I made a little flag out of a Mini Canvas Rectangle and  attached some wool felt hearts cut from a Papertrey Ink heart die-cut set.  I tied a little bow out of black and red Baker's Twine.

I hope that all of you will stop by The Kraft Journal to play along in the "Anything But A Card" Challenge this week.  I look forward to seeing what all of you will create and I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and play along.  There are lots of darling proudcts just waiting for you at The Kraft Outlet.  Come join us!

I'm sharing this project in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - This Week, Simon Says "Have a Heart".  I used heart die-cuts made with wool felt in black and red.

Great Impressions Stamps Challenge Blog - February Challenge - Have a Heart

Simon Says Stamp Vintage Challenge Blog - Something Messy.  I LOVE this idea.  I had thought about starting over with this project because the canvas tag is DIRTY!  OK, you've noticed, right?  But, I thought....afterall, my household motto has always been "dust is a country accent", so I kept the little mess right there on the canvas flag.  Not to mention, my project is basically made out of garbage!

Thanks for visting today!

Pearls and Swirls

This week at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog, the new theme for our challenge is "Pearls & Swirls".  I decided to keep mine pretty simple.  I used the Eureka Stamps Happy Birthday image and put this together with a couple pieces of scrap patterned paper, added some Zva Creative pearl swirls, a Prima flower, some Papertrey Ink natural jute, a crocheted doily flower and a Jenni Bowlin button in the center of that.  Pretty simple, really.  Eureka Stamps Shop has LOTS of wonderful images and sentiments at great prices, and I encourage you all to browse the store for something new, and then head on over to Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog to play along in the Pearls & Swirls Challenge this week.  We'd love to see your creations.
Have a great week, my bloggy friends.  I also REALLY hope that you will all stop by and play along in our challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog where it's always an Anything Goes Challenge, and everyone is always welcomed and encouraged to play along.  Hope to see YOU this week.

Happy Birthday, Hubby!

Today is my dear hubby's Birthday!  I won't share Darren's age with you all because, of course, I'd only be implicating myself by doing so (since I'm about ten months older than he).  We are having his favorite Chinese take-out for lunch, and we're taking him to Coldstone for icecream tonight after church (but he doesn't know that part yet!!).
I made this card last night based on the sketch for this month's challenge at The Craft's Meow Stamps Challenge Blog.  I LOVE their stamps, and have a long "wish list" there, but don't own any of their stamps yet to use on my project, so the Happy Birthday sentiment stamp is from the very awesome Verve Stamps.

Here are the challenges where I'd like to share this little card:

The Craft's Meow Stamps Challenge Blog - February Sketch Challenge (Darling Sketch, Darling Stamps!!)

The Shabby Tea Room Challenges - Week #152 - Happy Birthday in Pink & Blue

The Catered Crop Challenge Blog - Polka Dot Recipe Swap Quick Fire - I've had so much fun with this challenge, and have left a comment on every single entrants' blog.  (Where's MY love, people??)   LOL

My heart and thoughts go to my friend, Joann, today.  Since she unexpectedly  lost her hubby this last week of a heart attack just after they had moved into their new home (what should have been a wonderful time in their lives), it makes me realize how very grateful I need to be for my dear hubby.  It also reminds me that we need to take care of our husbands; encouraging activity, good health, wise food choices, etc.  We all need to become more aware of what we eat, and our physical activity because it could happen to any of us.  Count your blessings today, hug your hubby or child, pray for JoAnn and others who have lost someone, and have a blessed day!

Thanks for visiting,
Karen

Hearts, Flowers, and Fun

I've been having such a fun week of crafting, homeschooling, and I even got to attend a Ladies' Fellowship at church last night where we packed up care boxes for our college students and military men and women.  With our middle daughter being in Bible College, I got to pack up her box and I filled it to the brim with all kinds of treats, toiletries, and a mix of things she left at home over Winter Break.  It's always exciting for the students to receive these care packages, and it was a lot of fun!  I also made her some kernerless carmel popcorn.  I will share this yummy recipe with you:

2 bags "kernesless popcorn" (sometimes called Puff Corn)
1 C. light Karo Syrup
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 lb. Butter
1 C. brown sugar

Place Puff Corn in large roasting pan and set aside.  In a large pan, melt butter and Karo Syrup.  Just as it starts to boil, put in the pinch of baking soda and stir.  Turn down heat to low.  Add brown sugar, stirring thoroughly.  Pour this carmel mixture all over the Puff Corn.  Stir thoroughly so that ALL the Puff Corn is covered with carmel.  Place into a 250 degree oven.  You wil bake it uncovered for 45 minutes, but you take it out each 15 minutes to restir it so that all the puff corn gets baked and coated.  Once you've baked it for 45 minutes, you take it out of the oven and pour it onto wax paper to cool abd break apart.  It is DELICIOUS!
I'm sharing this card in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Simon Says "Have a Heart" - The hearts I used are from a Paper Sweeties stamp set that I stamped onto some various October Afternoon patterned papers.

The Shabby Tea Room - Happy Birthday in Pink and Blue - I used Paper Sweeties stamp set for my hearts, and die-cut flowers made from washi tape, patterned papers, and lots of pink and blue.

Catered Crop Challenges - Polka Dot Recipe Swap - I used a Paper Sweeties (sponsor for the challenge) stamp for my hearts, I used October Afternoon polka dot patterned papers, some washi tape, machine stitching, and lots of sweet little touches.

Fun at Word Art Wednesday

It's Wednesday, and time for another great challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  This week, we have TWO awesome sponsors; The Shabby Cottage and Robyn's Fetish Digital Images.  You can link up to 5 projects, Anything Goes, and we would LOVE to have you share your art with us so that we can see what you've been creating.  We always have a great time in our challenges, and it will be even better if YOU can come by to play along with us and share your art.  I used a Robyn's Fetish image called Heloise In The Garden, and I added some seam binding, MME patterned paper, flowers and leaves, the word art file printed on a Melissa Frances journaling spot, some vintage lace, and it's created on a chipboard square that I painted and machine stitched.
You will be SO inspired by all the awesome art provided by the Design Team, including our amazing Guest Designer for the Month of February, Melissa Bove.  Her art is stunning.  I hope you will stop by to check it all out and play along with us.

Shabby Sweetness

I have been a busy girl this week between homeschooling, cooking and cleaning, crafting and blogging.  But it's all SO much fun.  I sat down late last night and made this shabby sweet little card.  I had to literally tell myself, "step away from the hot glue gun, and go to bed".  Sometimes I forget how late it is.
This card uses two different October Afternoon polka dot patterned papers, a Melissa Frances journal spot, a Happy Birthday stamped sentiment from My Craft Spot and a Hurray For You stamped sentiment from Paper Sweeties, some little pearl accents, several paper flowers, some seam binding (also from Paper Sweeties) some jute, acrylic paint on the edges, and a Kraft Notecard from The Kraft Outlet.

I'm sharing this card in these challenges:

Catered Crop - Polka Dot/Recipe Swap sponsored by Paper Sweeties, and my card uses Paper Sweeties seam binding and sentiment stamp.
