Getting Sketchy at The Kraft Journal

It's Monday again, and time for another great challenge at The Kraft Journal.  This week, we're having another Sketch Challenge.  I hope that you will play along with us.  To be eligible for the prize, you need to use either kraft products (kraft paper, paper bags, kraft envelopes, etc.) OR any products purchased at The Kraft Outlet.  You can find adorable little embellishments (cute envelopes and more) for as low as $0.20 (twenty cents), or packages of wonderful notecards to make cards for every occasion.  Be sure to check out this wonderful shop, and come play along with us this week!
Karen Letchworth for the Kraft Journal
I had a lot of fun with this week's Sketch Challenge.  I wanted to use LOTS of the fun Jenni Bowlin products found at the Kraft Outlet.  I started with a Small Buff Ivory Blank Notecard and added some of my Jenni Bowlin patterned papers.  I chose to use these papers because they match all the wonderful Jenni Bowlin products in the store.  I added a Town Square Journalling Card, and a Red Apothacary Sticker (row of stars), a Jenni Bowlin Black Label Sticker, and the Jenni Bowlin Chipboard Flag Piece with the matching Number Flag Banner Sticker on top of that.  At that top of my card, I made a bow using several lengths of Natural Hemp Cord and over that is a black Jenni Bowlin button with Red Baker's Twine tied in the center. You can also see my "signature move" which is some machine stitching, and there's double-sided foam tape on the Chipboard Piece/Flag Banner Sticker to make it stand out a bit.  The "Feel Better Soon" sentiment is an acrylic Verve stamp, and it's stamped onto a Jenni Bowlin journaling spot.

I'm sharing this card in the following:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenges - Anything Goes

Simon Says Stamp Vintage Challenge Blog - Monday Challenge - Say It With Stamps.  I used a stamp from Verve for my sentiment (Feel Better Soon)

I really hope you're having a great week.  I'm so grateful that you've stopped by today.  Thanks for visiting, and please know that I will stop by to visit your blog if you leave me a comment letting me know that you were here!

Pretty Little Studio

Hello all my crafty friends!  I hope this finds you all doing well, and taking the time to count your blessings.  I'd also like to invite you all to stop by Word Art Wednesday this week to play along in our Anything Goes challenge.  We have two AMAZING sponsors.   This week, they are My Craft Spot by Kimberly who is offering the acrylic stamp set of winner's choice, and also Deedee's Digis who is offering three digi sets of the winner's choice.  You are welcome to share ANY type of art as long as it is family friendly and meets our Challenge Guidelines.  It is a God-honoring challenge blog, and we would LOVE to have you play along with us.

God has been blessing Word Art Wednesday tremendously.  People tell me "you're doing such a great job", and other kind comments like this.  But to be perfectly honest, I have to tell you....it's NOT anything that I have done that has blessed this challenge blog.  It is ALL about what GOD has done.  I try to always give Him the praise for everything that happens; trusting that He is completely in control of all things.  I pray for our sponsors, as well as for those who share their art with us.  I know that by trusting God, giving it all to Him, and praising Him every step of the way, I have surrendered the blog to Him.  I truly believe that this alone is why He has chosen to bless the blog.  I want it to glorify Him and not to shine any light on me.  It's not about me.  It's all about Him, and I am so delighted to have the opportunity to be part of what God is doing at Word Art Wednesday.  God allowed us to completely fill our Sponsorship Calendar for 2014 at Word Art Wednesday with at least two (some weeks three) sponsors each week.  We like to have one sponsor offering physical product, and one offering digital products; as this helps with international winners that can't always have product shipped to them.  God has blessed us with what I truly believe are the best sponsors of any challenge blog.  One of the many awesome new sponsors for 2014 is the adorable shop Pretty Little Studio.  They have lots of darling vintage embellishments.  I wanted to share a little card I made using one of their sweet little Vintage Diecuts.  This one matches the October Afternoon Calk Walk line just perfectly!
I'm sharing this card in their fun September Sketch Challenge as well as a couple of other challenges.  You can enter and find out more here:

Pretty Little Studio - September Sketch Challenge - I used the sweet little Vintage Debbie & Danny diecut.  How cute!

Autumn Colors at The Kraft Journal

Karen Letchworth for The Kraft Journal
This week at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog, we have another super fun challenge for everyone, and it's an Autumn Color Challenge.  I love these rich colors that represent the cool weather, the falling leaves, and the changing seasons.  So I decided to make two projects to share for this week's challenge, and I used lots of wonderful products from The Kraft Outlet to create them.  The first project I made is a paper mache' pumpkin shaped box that I covered with a sheet of the adorable vintage Dictionary Pages.  Next, I added a Tim Holtz Journaling Ticket, some felt leaves, sentiment stickers, and a bow made from Kraft Wraphia Ribbon.  The other little item is another wonderful gift-giving product from the Kraft Outlet; which is a Small Kraft Pillow Box.   I used another Tim Holtz Journaling Ticket which fit just perfectly for a rub-on sentiment and some embellishments including another Kraft Wraphia Ribbon bow, some Natural Hemp Cord, and some Green Baker's Twine.  There are SO many great products at the Kraft Outlet for all your Autumn crafting projects, and we'd really love to have you pick up some new goodies and come join our amazing "Color Challenge" this week.

I'm also going to share these little projects in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes Using Simon Says Stamp Product - I used some Jolee's Fall Stickers, and also Basic Grey patterned papers and buttons; all available in their sweet store!

Basic Grey Challenge Blog - Autumn Colors Photo Inspiration - I LOVED this beautiful photo inspiration.  I used Basic Grey patterned paper and button.

Have a blessed week!

Simon Says SPEND!

Every now and then, my husband tells me those wonderful words I long to hear.  Well, now I know you're all thinking that I'm waiting to hear "I love you", and while those words ARE truly wonderful, they aren't the words I long to hear the most.  I know he loves me, and perhaps I take it for granted a bit (which I shouldn't).  He's SUCH a doll.  But the words I most especially LOVE to hear are "you can spend some money on crafts honey".  Every now and then, especially when he's gotten some overtime or has a bigger paycheck than usual, he lets me do some shopping.  There are SO many stores that I LOVE, and it's always hard to decide exactly what I want.  But one store where I never seem to have ANY trouble spending some SERIOUS money is the wonderful Simon Says Stamp.  I don't always have time to play along in their challenges, but I do as often as possible.  This week, their theme is to use some supplies purchased from their store.  With that being the case, I decided to finally use this adorable die-cut I purchased there.  It's their own brand (Simon Says Stamp Exclusive) and it's DARLING.  It's the word "Be".  Here is a link for this sweet little die-cut:  Simon Says Stamp Die Cut "Be" and Matching Sentiment Stamps
Simon Says Stamp also carries these other supplies that I used on this card:  October Afternoon Farm Girl 6x6 Paper Pad, Maya Road Adorable Canvas Blooms, and the sweet little Maya Road Wooden Heart.  I also used October Afternoon Farm Girl Chipboard, October Afternoon Red Letters (Happy), Maya Road ribbon, vintage cream trim, and machine stitching.

I'm sharing my card in the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes Using Products From Simon Says Stamp.  Please see above for all the links of the wonderful Simon Says Stamp products I used on this card.  My favorite being the Simon Says Stamp "Be" Sentiment Die-Cut

Sister Act Challenge Blog - Challenge #25 - Anything Goes Sponsored by Stamp & Create - I LOVE Stamp & Create, and the Design Team at Sister Act did a fabulous job!

My Craft Spot by Kimberly - Challenge #111 - My Favorite Technique - I have to admit that my "go-to" technique is machine sewing on my cards and projects, and I do it pretty much ALL the time!

Crafty Ribbons - Challenge #62 - Anything Goes With Ribbon - I used Maya Road striped ribbon and a vintage lace.  They both run across the bottom of my card just below the scallops.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I'm so glad that you took the time to visit and say hello and I will look forward to visiting each of you!   Have a blessed week, may God bless you all with His goodness and love!  And....I hope your honey will tell you those super sweet words you long to hear!  LOL

I'm "Sew" Appreciative

This is a card that could, quite literally, be sent to one of dozens of people.  I have been SO blessed by the support and generosity of all my friends, family, and on-line friends during this ordeal with my shoulder.  God is just SO GOOD to provide me with so many wonderful people in my life who are willing to lend a helping hand.  So, next time you are going through a difficult time, I hope that you receive the same outpouring of love and support that I've been shown through my difficulty.  Praise God for sending those special angels into our lives when we need them the most.  I am so grateful for you all.  Thank you so much to those of you who offered up prayers on my behalf.  My cup runneth over!
Karen Letchworth for Word Art Wednesday
This card started with a Lunch Bag Kraft Notecard  to which I added a piece of October Afternoon patterned paper and a scrap of Simple Stories patterned paper that I machine stitched together.  Next, I printed the Vintage Button Card image in brown from the wonderful Diane's Daydream Designs onto a piece of Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock.  I also stamped the button card using the Button Boutique Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink and, using this same sweet set, stamped thread spool which I wrapped in DMC floss.  I used a Kaiser Craft wooden dress form from our sponsor, The Scrapping Center, covered with some lace and ribbon around the middle.  I sewed on some Heidi Swapp chipboard letters (SEW) with my sewing machine.  The rub-on (appreciative) is from Melissa Frances, and there's a little decorative cream pearl from Zva Creative.  Other than some Tim Holtz ink, and I think that's about it.

I'm sharing my first card here:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Use Product(s) From Simon Says Stamp Store - Check out these lovely wooden dress forms by Kaisercraft!

Daydream Designs is one of this week's sponsors at Word Art Wednesday, and I knew I wanted to use the Vintage Button Card to create this sewing related card.  The set, which you can find by clicking on this link: Vintage Button Cards Set, includes several different button cards in both brown and black, and can be sized to meet the needs of your specific project.  They're absolutely DARLING!  You can also find additional scripture sets at Daydream Designs right here in the Dream Team Scripture Sets section. I encourage you to check out all of Diane's adorable images.  The other sponsor this week at Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog is the Scrapping Center and they're offering a $15 gift certificate.  They offer SO MANY wonderful crafting products that you will LOVE.  I used their Kaisercraft Wooden Dress Form on my first card (above).  So let me just tell you....it's yet another great week to play along at Word Art Wednesday, and I really hope you will join us.  These prizes are AMAZING!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today to take a peek at my projects and say hello.  It's always a blessing to have you visit, and I hope you each have a wonderful week of crafting, sharing, enjoying your families, and just rejoicing in the MANY wonderful blessings God has given to each of us.  We are all SO BLESSED, and it ALL comes from our precious Savior, Jesus Christ.  He gave us the greatest gift ever when He provided a way for us to spend eternity in Heaven  with Him by sacrificing Himself for our sins and paying the price for us to receive eternal life.  For more information on how to know FOR SURE that you're going to Heaven when you die, please check out this link:  You Can Know FOR SURE!

Celebrating Tombow

I am SO grateful to be part of the "100 Days of Tombow" celebration.  I was sent these products which included a lovely set of colored pencils, a set of  fun colored markers, and one of their Stamp Runner adhesives.  I've been a "die-hard" Tombow permanent adhesive runner forever, and I swear by it.  But this new Adhesive Runner was also amazing.
Free Tombow Products Kit
Well, I'm not much of an artist in the way of drawing, so I didn't dare to attempt coloring anything for my project.  Instead, I made a sweet little Autumn card.  I touched the edges of the leaves using the Tombow markers just to make them "pop", and then I used the Adhesive Runner to adhere the leaves and buttons to the card.  This stuff sticks really well!  As I said before, Tombow has amazing adhesive and I would recommend it without ANY hesitation.  It is THE BOMB, and will always be my "go to" adhesive.
Karen Letchworth for Tombow
I started with a piece of patterned paper that I machine stitched along the edges.  Next, I added a strip with a Papertrey Ink stamped sentiment.  The sweet little owl is from the Falling For You Owls Set from Daydream Designs.  Then, I used the Tombow Rolling Adhesive to adhere several colorful leaves and buttons tied with baker's twine.  It was a really simple card and turned out cute.  I am SO grateful to Tombow for allowing me to showcase some of their wonderful products, and I wish their awesome company the very best of luck and success in the future.  I want to thank them for allowing me to participate in this awesome celebration.

Thanks for visiting today, and if you're ever looking for the perfect adhesives, I highly recommend Tombow!

Inspired By A Song - The Kraft Journal

For this week's new challenge at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog, we were asked to create a project that was inspired  by either a song or a book.  Well, that was a "no-brainer" for me.  I'm such a big fan of music (especially compared to reading).  So, I used the old song "You're The Inspiration" by Chicago and created this card.
Karen Letchworth for The Kraft Outlet
My card base is made from a Buff Ivory Blank Notecard that U covered with a sheet of vintage sheet music (to go with the song theme), and some Basic Grey (Lemonade line) patterned papers that I machine stitched together.  I placed a cute little Tim Holtz Journaling Ticket under my matching Basic Grey bird and swirl chipboard.  I then tied on some cream lace and lengths of Pastel Hemp Cord across the bottom, as well as tying a bow out of the same Pastel Hemp Cord in pink, blue and gold.  The "You're My Inspiration" rub-on is from Melissa Frances, and I inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz ink.  I encourage you to treat yourself to some new goodies at The Kraft Outlet, and then come by to share in our challenge this week!  My top suggestions in the store for this week are their awesome Notecards which come in cream and kraft in various sizes and are a great value, all the different darling Envelopes that come in bitty sizes to large and start at just $0.35 each.   The small ones make awesome pockets for gift cards or journalling, and the bigger ones make amazing mini albums.

I'm sharing my card in the following challenges:

Basic Grey Challenge Blog - Challenge #102 - Anything Goes - I used Basic Grey Lemonade patterned papers and matching chipboard (bird and swirl).  This is my all-time favorite Basic Grey line!

Seasoned With Salt

I would have to say that Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week.  Not only is it the day of our mid-week service at church, but it's also the day we begin another fun challenge each week at Word Art Wednesday.  I enjoy making and sharing my projects for our challenges primarily because I get to design with God's precious and holy Word.  Sharing the devotional also blesses ME as much as it blesses others.  Scripture is a blessing to everyone, and I really hope that it will be a blessing to each of you this week.
I decided to make a little cookbook for this week's project.  This first picture (above) is the front cover.  I made it using a Medium Kraft Paper Sack from The Kraft Outlet.  Pretty much everything I used to decorate this book is from Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird Collection.  This includes the patterned papers, chipboard, journaling cards, and stickers.
This second page (above) is the back side, and it shows what's "On The Menu".  I chose Buttermilk Chicken, Low Fat Pasta Salad, Dinner Rolls and Banana Cream Supreme for dessert.  These are the four recipes you will see in another photo.
In the very first photo, you can see a tag sticking out of the pocket.  This photo (above) shows one side of that tag.  I created a pocket to hold the four recipes of the dishes "On The Menu".  I used the sweet Vintage Recipe Cards from Daydream Designs which I colored, and hand-wrote the recipes on.  This set includes four different styles of recipe cards, which just so happened to be exactly how many I need for this yummy meal.
This last photo (above) is the other side of the tag insert.  I used this week's free word art/scripture file from Word Art Wednesday.  You are welcome to stop by and save this beautiful free file.  You're never required to use it on the project(s) you enter in our challenges, but it is there for you if you want it.  I thought the scripture matched this cute little salt and pepper page.  Yes, it's kind of a play on words - but still cute (or so I thought).

Getting "Sketchy" at The Kraft Journal

Happy Monday, friends!  Today starts another fun challenge at The Kraft Journal.  This week, we're following a sweet little sketch that you can find on the blog.  I don't always do real well with sketches, but I gave it my best effort.  It's always interesting to me that everyone can be looking at the exact same inspiration sketch, and yet each person has their own unique take on it, and their projects will all look so individually different.  You will see what I mean when you see all the samples.
Karen Letchworth for The Kraft Journal
I started with a darling Lunch Bag Kraft Notecard - these notecards are AWESOME and I find myself using them all the time.  They come in two different sizes and include matching envelopes.  I used a simple floral patterned paper that I had on hand, and followed the sketch the best I could.  I added some hand-dyed scrunched seam binding in red and cream, and several other delightful embellishments from The Kraft Outlet including a Jenni Bowlin Office Chipboard Button that has some Natural Hemp Cord tied to its center, a Tim Holtz Journaling Ticket with a rub-on sentiment from Classy Cards 'N Such, and a little patterned paper flag that holds a Jenni Bowlin General Store Postage Stamp Sticker.  I always enjoy using my Kraft Outlet products because they just make card-making and scrapbooking a breeze.   I really hope that YOU will stop by and do some shopping at The Kraft Outlet to pick up some new goodies, and then come and play along with us in this week's "Sketch Challenge".  You can get some more inspiration on the The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog from my fellow Design Team Members.  To be eligible to win the monthly $15 gift certificate, you need to either use products purchased at The Kraft Outlet or any kraft products (such as paper bags, chipboard, kraft paper, etc.).

Thanks for stopping by to say hello today.  I look forward to seeing your cards this week, and I want to personally invite you all to share in our Sketch Challenge at The Kraft Journal and the Anything Goes Challenge at Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog.

Have a blessed week!

Wonderful Word Art Wednesday

One of the many blessings in my life is all the joy I experience through crafting.  I truly had no idea how much God would bless me through Word Art Wednesday when I was originally asked to be a part of their Design Team.  I am SO glad that God urged me to join way back then.  Little did I know that I would eventually end up taking over; or all the ways this ministry would bless my life, or all the wonderful people God would send into my life.  It seems that every week I am reminded of God's goodness and provision.  There are blessings at every corner!  I always pray before hitting the random.org button to pick our weekly winners, and God always picks the winners (not me), and to see the excitement people have over winning a prize is a real treat.  This week, the winner is a fairly new blogger and she had never won a prize before.  She was SO excited, and that just blesses my heart to know how much it is appreciated.  I give God ALL THE GLORY, the thanks, and the praise for providing our wonderfully generous sponsors.  I honestly believe that Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog has the BEST SPONSORS of any other challenge blog.  And the reason I feel that way is because GOD has provided them.  I am SO grateful for all the wonderfully generous companies who support our challenges, and I continually pray that God will bless their businesses for being so kind.  It really blesses my heart to see others SO excited about winning, and to be a part of what God is doing even in the crafting community.  I have also met so many wonderful people, and gained so much inspiration from so many talented crafters.   The blessings never seem to end, and I praise God for that as well!
This mini album was made using an extra long wine bag.  As I've said before, I'm really not promoting alcoholic beverages here....honest!  But these wonderful bags DO exist, so why not use them?  Most times, you can stop by the liquor store and kindly ask the clerk for a few of these bags and they don't seem to mind.  Because the bags used on this particular mini album are exceptionally long, I simply folded it in half, and I didn't need any type of binding.  How cool is that?
Many of the supplies used on this mini album are from October Afternoon - the patterned papers, the stickers, chipboard, rubber charm, and flash card.  Other goodies include a Kraft Outlet Tim Holtz Journaling Ticket, a Jenni Bowlin (FAITH) Bingo card, a vintage cream doily, wool felt from Prairie Point Junction/Wool Felt Central to create the Die-Namics Loopy Flower and hand-cut stitched leaves, a Jenni Bowlin milk bottle cap, some buttons with baker's twine and jute, and a JilliBean Soup journaling spot.  If there's anything I missed, just ask and I'm happy to find it for you!

For those of you who are familiar with Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog and play along with us, please know how very grateful to God I am for you.  I love seeing your wonderful creations each week, and I value your friendship and fellowship.  And for those of you who are not familiar with Word Art Wednesday, I warmly welcome you to stop by and join us.  We would be SO BLESSED to have you share your art with us, and we look forward to getting to know you.  We truly care about people, and we want to be a blessing in your life, as you are to us by sharing your art with us.  I am honored to be able to pray for you.

Thanks so much for visiting me today.  I hope you all have a wonderfully blessed week, and that you will take time to thank the One who has given us all the blessings in our life.  The same One who can comfort and sustain us in times of trouble; and that is Jesus Christ our Savior, our King, our friend.  We are never alone.  Praise God!

Karen

CAS Challenge at The Kraft Journal

The word "CHALLENGE", in and of itself, implies that it should be at least somewhat pushing you to try things that don't necessarily come easy.  For me, this would be the concept of the CAS card.  For those of you who know me well, you've seen that I tend to add  A LOT to every card and project I create.  So, keeping it "CAS" really is a true challenge for me.

So, for this week's CAS Challenge at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog, I really tried my best to keep it simple. I started my card with a fabulous Lunch Bag Kraft Notecard and attached some lovely Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two papers.  I adorned my CAS card with a few goodies from The Kraft Outlet including a length of Burlap Black Ribbon, some red and black Baker's Twine, a Tim Holtz Memo Pin, and an inked Tim Holtz Adage Ticket (PLAY) that is attached to an inked Grungy Prim Tag.   You'll find lots of great embellishments in the amazing Kraft Outlet store, and we would LOVE having you play along in our "Clean and Simple" Challenge this week.

Wonderful Washi at V's Sweet Ideas

Hello all my bloggy, creative friends.  I hope that you're all having a great week.  I'm back to share a card that I made as my Design Team project for V's Sweet Ideas.  This month, the challenge theme is "Wonderful Washi Tape".  You will find all kinds of gorgeous washi tapes at V's Sweet Ideas.  Vanessa carries several brands and styles of washi tape, and you can see them all right here in V's Sweet Shoppe.
Karen Letchworth for V's Sweet Ideas
I used some JilliBean Soup pink patterned paper that matched my Pink Triangle Washi Tape just perfectly.  I ran the washi tape down a strip of canvas and added a strip of Olive Green Bazzill that I punched with an EKSuccess border punch to give a decorative edge.  I made a seam binding bow and added a decorative stick pin.  The journaling card is from October Afternoon and the sentiment is an Inspirational Birthday Rubz Set from Classy Cards 'N Such.  I also added some sweet little Colorful Sequins from V's Sweet Shoppe to decorate the corner of the journaling spot.

I hope that you will stop by V's Sweet Ideas to check out all the wonderful washi tape, sequins, and dozens of other lovely crafting supplies; and then come play along with us in our Washi Tape Challenge during the Month of September at V's Sweet Ideas Challenge Blog.  You can enter two projects per month for the chance to win a great prize.  I look forward to seeing what you will create and share!
