Celebrate Red, White & Blue With RRR

Really Reasonable Ribbon makes it SO MUCH FUN to celebrate any holiday or special occasion with their amazing selection of ribbons and trims.  To help celebrate the 4th of July this year, Really Reasonable Ribbon (and my friend, Rachel) helped me to create some lovely hair bows.  Yes, Really Reasonable Ribbon carries much more than just the ribbons and trims - they also carry all the supplies for creating beautiful hair bows and head bands.  You can see them all here in their Headbands and Clips Category.  They have different sizes for every hair length and thickness so that it's perfect for all hair types from infants to old ladies (like me....LOL).
This larger bow includes the Molly White Crochet Lace, Tiny Electric Blue Stars on White Grosgrain, Red With Satin Grosgrain Edge, Electric Blue Satin, and several other scraps of this and that.  Really Reasonable Ribbon not only has a wonderful Patriotic Selection, but they carry selections for pretty much any special occasion you can image.  You will never have to look anywhere else for your ribbon needs!

Thanks for stopping by today, and don't forget to check the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog each day for inspiration, and also for the fun challenges we run each month.  We love it when you visit us!

Blessings,
Karen

A Color Challenge at The Kraft Journal

This week at The Kraft Journal, we're having a fun Color Challenge using three GREAT colors - RED, WHITE and BLUE.  I chose to create a fun card for this color challenge, and  I used LOTS of great Kraft Outlet products to make it.  I started with a Light Brown Kraft Note Card as my base, and topped that with a coordinating piece of Light Kraft Cover Weight Card Stock and some patterned papers.  I hand cut a star into one of the papers and added some red, white, blue and silver sequins.  Then, I added a stamped sentiment to a piece of Light Kraft Cover Weight Card Stockand finished my card by tying several lengths of lovely Black Baker's Twine around it, and into a bow.
As some of you already know, our middle daughter is getting married in July.  I'll be on a short break this summer from designing at The Kraft Journal; but my dear friend, the talented Stephanie Wright, will be filling in for me.  You will LOVE the sweet cards she shares with you, and I really hope that you will stop by her blog, Steph's Scrap Happenings, to welcome and encourage her.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and God bless the USA!

Let Freedom Ring at TKJ

It's time for another SUPER FUN challenge at The Kraft Journal, and this week we are celebrating our freedom.  We live in the most amazing country in the world, and I'm SO very grateful for all the men and women who fight, and have fought, to defend the freedoms we enjoy in America.  Our family loves to celebrate the 4th of July, and this card is all about celebrating that very special day.
As we celebrate Patriotism with our "Let Freedom Ring" Challenge this week, I wanted to create a card to celebrate thigreat country...The United States of America.  I started with a Small Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card to which I added some red, white and blue colored card stocks.  I die-cut the letters (USA) and attached some buttons with Red Baker's Twine.  The Kraft Journal has so many great products to help you create something special for this week's challenge, and we really hope that you will play along with us.

I'm sharing my card in this fun challenge:

REALLY Reasonable Ribbons

If you're anything like me, you simply can't resist putting ribbons, laces, bows and trims on all your projects.  The best place to find these ribbons and trims, at REALLY reasonable rates, is at the best little ribbon shop around......Really Reasonable Ribbon.  They carry SO many fabulous ribbons and trims, as well as flowers and embellishments to adorn your projects.  If you haven't visited lately, you'll definitely want to check out all the great new ribbons, and all the recently restocked items.  They carry ALL the popular styles, widths, and textures.  Just look at how my Really Reasonable Ribbons supplies helped me to decorate this sweet little glassine bag and matching card.
I love using glassine bags for giving homemade goodies such as cookies, brownies, or even candies.  I added a digital image (cake), half a doily, and a BINGO card.  Then, I added some sequins, Helen White Crochet Lace, 3/8" Light Pink Gingham Ribbon, Rose Petal Seam Binding, Raspberry Baker's Twine, Violet Burlap String and also embellished with Wild Orchid Crafts Open Roses in Pink and Open Roses in Dark Lilac.  Do you see what I mean about how these lovely products easily make projects look amazing?  It's easy when you have the right embellishments, and Really Reasonable Ribbon has it ALL!
I also created a card to match the glassine bag.  I did this so that I can put some cookies or treats in the glassine bag, and I'll have a coordinating card to give with the little gift.  It's really easy to do, and makes such a nice set.  I used all the same trims (as listed above) in creating my matching card.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope that you will join us for the current challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  We love seeing your fabulous projects, and we know you'll find everything you need to help you embellish your cards and projects in our lovely shop.  Come, do some shopping and and play along.

Red, Black, Rooster!

As those who know me are aware, I run the challenge blog Word Art Wednesday.  This is a great place for everyone to share their family-friendly cards and projects; and we offer great prizes each week.  This week, one of our FABULOUS sponsors is Classy Cards 'N Such.  They are offering one lucky person a $15 gift certificate to their store.  They also have a challenge each week on their blog, and I'm inviting you to play along.  I made this card for their challenge this week.  And YOU can link up in their challenge AND the challenge at Word Art Wednesday; giving you TWO chances to win goodies from their store this week.
I used some old Daisy D patterned papers, a Cheery Lynn Designs doily die-cut, some machine stitching, a big bow made from wire-edged gingham ribbon, a yellow button and some jute in the center.  The sentiment is a rub-on that I applied to some chalkboard black paper, and inked in white chalk ink.

Blessings

I have been having such fun watching the Summer School tutorials over on the My Favorite Things Blog.  They've been sharing some really GREAT lessons to help you make cards that are eye-pleasing and laid out in a way that causes you to really think about where you are placing your elements.  This particular card was based on their Movement/Flow Tutorial.  I will admit that I really lifted Julia's sample card; but then again, I've always been a big fan of her art.  I've now got a BIG wish list for My Favorite Things, and as soon as the wedding is over I will be treating myself to some new goodies.
I used a kraft card from The Kraft Journal, some Prima flowers, Crate Paper Journey patterned paper, May Arts Natural Burlap Jute, a JilliBean kraft journalling tag, wooden feathers from Prima, and a Cheery Lynn Designs sentiment die-cut (Blessings).

I'm sharing my card in the following challenges:

My Favorite Things Blog - Summer School Lesson/Movement and Flow by Julia Stainton - I definitely fell in love with Julia's sweet card, and took her lead on this one!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Challenge: Don't Cut/Just Paste - I didn't cut anything, but just pasted on my elements with no cutting.  The DT had amazing samples, didn't they?

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Use Your Favorite Technique and/or Product" - I chose to use lots of great Prima products on this one (one of my most favorite products are their fabulous flowers), and Simon Says Stamp carries LOTS of them!

Cheery Lynn Designs - Challenge #189 - "Keep It Krafty" - I used a kraft note card, and a kraft journalling tag.  The Cheery Lynn Designs die-cut I used is their ADORABLE Blessings Sentiment Dies (Set of 2).

Classy Cards 'N Such - Challenge #89 - Father's Day - I used a Cheery Lynn Designs die-cut sentiment which is sold at CCNS.  In fact, all their Cheery Lynn dies are currently 50% off.  Stock up now!

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge - I love this blog, and LOVE their fabulous products.  I've been learning so much from their Summer School classes, and couldn't resist playing along.

My Favorite Things at CropStop

Hello, everyone.  Today I'm sharing a sweet little card I created using some Crate Paper, Oh Darling supplies along with some of the lovely die-cuts sold at CropStop.  While CropStop carries many brands and styles of die-cuts, today's card uses the Rolled Rose Die-Cut from My Favorite Things/Die-Namics.  These floral dies create adorable rolled roses.  I cut mine from wool felt, and placed some sweet little Doodlebug  Pearl Gems in the center of the flowers, as well as at the top of the tiny sentiment tag.  I tied the sentiment tag with two lengths of Natural Burlap String.
The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped using Tim Holtz Black Soot Ink.  I also added a sweet little rusty Tim Holtz Paper Clip.  I love the vintage feel these little clips add to your projects.  CropStop has oodles and oodles of wonderful supplies to help make your cards and projects look amazing.  I encourage you to stop by to see all the wonderful products carried at CropStop, and then play along in our current challenge.
I hope you've enjoyed my card using the My Favorite Things Die-Cuts and other goodies from CropStop.  Thanks so much for visiting me today.  I'm always SO grateful for your visits, your comments, and your friendships.

I'm sharing my card in this challenge:

Sew Lovely

Hello, friends!  I wanted to share a quick card with you today that I created last night following the "Rule of Thirds" that I learned over on the My Favorite Things Blog.  I love their WONDERFUL stamps, die-cuts and supplies at My Favorite Things; and now, they are even sharing some great techniques in their Summer School Classes.  There are several great lessons/tutorials, but I chose to follow the Rules of Thirds because it really helped me to understand that it truly matters where you place things, and how you choose to lay out your card to make it pleasing to the eye.  This technique will be a blessing to me in everything I create from this point moving forward.  Thank you, My Favorite Things.
This card was created using some Carta Bella Sew Lovely patterned papers and stickers.  I touched the edges of my patterned paper with acrylic pain just to color coordinate everything nicely, and then I laid out my embellishments using the Rule of Thirds.  I used a Kaiser Craft wooden dress form, and the Mini Royal Roses die-cut by My Favorite Things to create the lovely wool felt flower that I added on the wooden dress form.

My Favorite Things Blog - Summer School/Rule of Thirds - I used the MFT Mini Royal Roses die-cut to create the lovely flower

Sketch Saturday Challenge #365 - Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp - This sketch is ADORABLE!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Your favorite technique and/or Favorite Product - My most favorite technique is sewing.  That's a no-brainer for me - I do it all the time.  LOVE it!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.  I would really love to hear your thoughts on my card.  I hope you're having a fun and creative week.  I love seeing everyone's art work, and I encourage you to share your talents with us in this week's challenge over at Word Art Wednesday.  We have some really AMAZING prices again this week.  Come, play along!

Blessings,

Boys Will Be Boys

Hello crafty friends!  I hope you all had a relaxing weekend, and that you're all ready for another great challenge.  This week at The Kraft Journal, we're having a "Boys Will Be Boys" Challenge.  You can create any card or project for a man or boy, or just something masculine.  As long as you use kraft or anything sold at the Kraft Outlet, you will eligible for the Top 3 Award and the monthly prize of a $15 gift certificate to the Kraft Outlet.
I decided to make a card to welcome a brand new baby boy. I used a Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card for my base, and added some patterned papers.  Next, I attached a Mini Kraft Merchandise Bag to which I added a boyish journaling card and some Green Baker's Twine.  I also tucked in a journaling tag made from Buff Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock, and added a felt bow with a Tim Holtz Memo Pin stuck in it.  I absolutely LOVE having places for tucking in either a gift card, cash, or a little note; and the Kraft Outlet has lots of great little bags for this purpose.

We sure would LOVE to have you play along with us this week.  Come on over to The Kraft Journal to see the other Design Team Members' projects, and link up your creations.  We can't wait to see your creativity at work.

Blessings,

Really Reasonable Ribbon June Blog Hop

It's that WONDERFUL time of the month again, my ribbon-loving friends!  Time for another super fun and inspiring BLOG HOP with Really Reasonable Ribbon.  You should have arrived here from Bonnie Garby's Blog.  Wasn't that awesome?  If needed, you can start the hop on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog.  This month, we have the CUTEST, brightest, most fun ribbons in our Ribbon Club Assortment.  This wonderful collection can be used for birthdays, get well cards, summer projects, and just about ANY type of uplifting or fun card or project you can imagine.
I created a fun, bright card AND a diary/journal.  I paired this month's lovely colors with Simple Stories patterned papers and embellishments.  They matched SO beautifully.  First, I will talk about my card.  I took three of the patterned papers and machine stitched them together.  Next, I added a little 3-D sticker embellishment with the Turquoise Satin Swiss Dot Ribbon along its side, and added snippets of the Medium Pink Plaid Ribbon3/8" Satin With Metallic Edges in Tangerine and Summer Fun Confetti Dots Grosgrain Ribbon peeking out from the sticker.  Then, I tied a long length of the sweet Raspberry Baker's Twine around the bottom of my card, and tied a bow with it.  Really Reasonable Ribbon carries a wide variety of Baker's Twine in both solids and traditional stripes.  It is a WONDERFUL addition to any card or project, it comes in almost every color you can possibly imagine, and it costs just ten cents per yard.
My diary/journal was made by taking a Natural Smooth Lined Journal and covering it with lots of great patterned papers, washi tape, a canvas heart, some machine stitching, a Maya Road canvas tag, a burlap heart, a die-cut doily......yeah, there's a lot going on here.
Around the wool felt die-cut yellow flower, I tied a big bow made from Raspberry Baker's Twine.  I also tied a length of Natural Burlap String onto the Maya Road canvas tag.  I just love how the Baker's Twine and Burlap String gives a soft, sweet touch anywhere on your cards and projects.  Both of these fabulous trims come in a wide array of lovely colors, and cost just ten cents per yard at Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Towards the top of the journal, you will several of this month's Ribbon Club ribbons peeking out from the title above the October Afternoon journalling card.  They include the Summer Fun Diamond Print Grosgrain, 3/8" Satin With Silver Metallic Edge in Tangerine, Paulette White Crochet Lace, Medium Pink Plaid Ribbon, and Hot Pink With Silver Edge.  They are all SO bright and fun.

I hope that this has inspired you, and that you will continue to hop along the rest of the Blog Hop to see more of our fantastic Design Team's creations.  Your next stop will be at Teresa Horner's sweet blog, and I know she has something lovely to share with you all.  Happy blog hopping, and don't forget to answer the question at the end of the hop to become eligible for the awesome RRR prize.

I'm sharing my card and journal in the following challenges:

A-Tisket, A-Tasket

Hello to all of my ribbon-loving friends!  I'm posting today with two sweet cards I created for Really Reasonable Ribbon, that I'm giving to a family member.  If any of you happen to have a loved one suffering from Alzheimer's, or just losing their memory, I hope you will enjoy this post.  We've found that MUSIC is a great way to reconnect with those who are losing their memory.  Somehow or another, all those songs are still up there in their minds.  By singing old familiar tunes, they quickly open up and start singing along, tapping a foot, smiling, etc.  I found a darling set of journaling cards from Carta Bella with Nursery Rhymes/songs printed on them, and have been making them into cards for my Great Aunt.  We "sing" the cards to her, and she LOVES it!  And Really Reasonable Ribbon helps to make my cards BEAUTIFUL.
Once I had my patterned papers, doily, and journaling card in place, I adorned this sweet card with LOTS of great embellishments from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The lovely bow was made from Mimosa Yellow Seam Binding, Dusty Olive Seam Binding, and Solid Red Baker's Twine.  I also tucked in several of the GORGEOUS Wild Orchid Crafts Mulberry Flowers carried at Really Reasonable Ribbon.
The flowers I used include the Deep Ivory Open Roses, a Green Rose, and a gorgeous Brown Leaf.  The sweet stems on the Mulberry Flowers and Leaves are so cute.  I use a pencil or crafting tool to "swirl" them, and they add such a soft, sweet touch to your cards.  Really Reasonable Ribbon has SO many lovely ribbons, trims, flowers, and floral accents that will help to make your cards and projects look amazing.  Why not treat yourself today?  You deserve it!
My second card uses the Blueberry Baker's Twine, Mimosa Yellow Seam Binding, Lipstick Red Seam Binding, and Royal Blue Micro Gingham Ribbon to create my bow.  It's easy to see how Really Reasonable Ribbon's sweet trims help you create a bow that takes a simple card and quickly makes it something extra special.  I would also LOVE to have you play along in our current challenge.

Have a great week!

Pretty Petaloo Pocket

Hello, everyone!  It's so nice to have you stop by today.  I'm sharing a sweet little pocket card I made for CropStop to showcase some more of the GORGEOUS Petaloo Sugared Berries they carry.  I absolutely adore these sweet accents.  Each package comes with three berry bundles tied with jute.  This is just one bundle that I used on this project.  Aren't they sweet?
Once I had created my pocket, I added a half doily, some words using a Doodlebug rub-on ("for") and PTI die-cut ("you"), a little Crate Paper tag, and then the GORGEOUS bow using some navy blue tulle, Blueberry Baker's Twine, and lovely Petaloo Sugared Berries in Red, tied with Natural Burlap String. To the top right, I also added a sweet little  Tim Holtz Paper Clip to give my project a feminine touch.

These sweet little pockets are very easy to create, and are a great way to make something special when giving a small gift.  CropStop has everything you could possibly want to help make your cards and projects look amazing.  I hope you will stop by to check out all the wonderful products carried at CropStop, and then play along in the current challenge.  Our new challenge starts tomorrow!

I'm sharing this project in the following challenges:

Pick Three at TKJ

It's time for another great challenge at The Kraft Journal; and this week, I took a different approach to our Pick Three Challenge.  While I did use three items from the list, they aren't as obvious as you might think.  The reason why I did this is to demonstrate that you don't have to take challenges so literally, and can have great FUN creating!
I started with a Small Buff/Ivory Note Card and added some machine-stitched and inked patterned papers.  Next, I added a Jenni Bowlin Journaling Card and topped that with some chipboard pieces (my CAR).  There's a small piece of Black With White Polka Dot Decorative Washi Tape under the chipboard (that's my BLACK item).  There's RED and WHITE in the patterned papers, journaling card, and chipboard.  The sentiment is a rub-on that I applied to a chipboard arrow using my Bone Folder Tool and this helpful tool always helps me get my rub-ons placed nicely without any hassle, and exactly where I want them (even in tight spaces).  I really would LOVE to have you play along with us this week.

Happy crafting,
Karen

Clearance Item at Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, ribbon lovers!  Today I'm sharing some sweet little treat bags I made for my nieces and nephews for the 4th of July.  I'm SO excited to share the holiday with them this year.  I created one treat bag for each of them using some amazing products from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I forgot to make this post when I was originally supposed to, so I'm sharing it now.  I started by taking a Middy Biddy Kraft Bag With Horizontal Stripes and creating little pocket cards for each of them.  As I've mentioned before these "middy biddy" bags are not small.  They're a generous 5" x 7.5" and they're now ON CLEARANCE for just $1.65/package of 10 bags.  This is a great time to grab them before they're gone!  They make the cutest little treat holders.
Once I had my Middy Biddy Bags folded, covered with patterned paper, and stitched down, I added to each of them a half doily, patriotic journalling card (USA, STAR, FLAG, and HERO).  Next, I grabbed my FABULOUS Really Reasonable Ribbons and went to town adorning them.  I used Wild Orchid Crafts Spiral Stamens which were recently RESTOCKED.  I used the White Spiral Stamens and the Red Spiral Stamens.
I also incorporated Blueberry Baker's Twine, Cherry Baker's Twine,  Red Chevron Striped Twill, and Victoria White Lace which you can see in the above photo.  I tried to make each one look similar, yet unique.  Because Really Reasonable Ribbon has SO MANY great ribbons, laces and trims, it was easy to make each one unique.
The next bag also incorporates ribbons from this month's Ribbon of The Month Club including the 5/8" Red White and Blue Striped Grosgrain Ribbon as well as some of the Red Burlap String.  The Burlap String comes in a wide array of colors, and is just ten cents per yard.  It gives your cards a soft, lovely touch.
The above pocket card also includes another ribbon from this month's Ribbon of The Month Assortment, and it is the adorable new Tiny Electric Blue Stars on White Grosgrain.  This ribbon is great, not only for 4th of July, but also for boy cards and other projects.  The blue really is "electric" and quite beautiful.
In addition to all the lovely ribbons, twines, and laces I've used on these projects, I also added several of our BEAUTIFUL Mulberry Flowers including the Deep Ivory Open Roses, Open Roses in Red, and also the Royal Blue Open Roses.  All the fabulous products at Really Reasonable Ribbon work together and compliment one another so nicely.  And YOU can make these for yourself - Really Reasonable Ribbon has it all.  Just follow my colored links, place the items in your cart, and there you go!  And as I said, you need to get yourself some of those fabulous CLEARANCED Decorative Bags before they're gone.  Again, they're just $1.65/10 bags, and now you can see how fun they are to decorate!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  You're warmly welcome to visit the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog to play along in their Masculine Card Challenge.  We absolutely LOVE seeing your projects.

Happy crafting,
Karen
